In the Cars universe there are three main movies "Cars" "Cars 2" "Cars 3" at first it was believed that all three films and spinoffs took place in the same timeline but I present a theory 🤓. Mater went back in time and acidentally made it so that radiator springs was never founded at the end of the short he belived he had reversed his mistakes but what if he actually created another timeline where radiator spring was never created and instead of lightning McQueen coming to radiator Springs Radiator Springs came to him at his race and what if this caused the tomfoolery we see in Cars 2? Guess we will never know.
